0.1.0
March 25, 2024

Work on the new Spacedex began an hour ago, after almost a decade of zero updates. We are logging every single action, from the very beginning, and intend to build something that overshadows the current Spacedex in terms of features, data, and usefulness. We are building LIVE, baby! Thanks for coming along for the ride!

Added
Added section for Perseids skymap.
Added
Added glossary section to Perseids meteor shower page.
Added
Testing video background with stars for constellation section.
Added
Added moon illumination percentage bars, moon phase, meteors per hour, and peak dates to list of meteor showers.
Added
The new site will feature 12 major meteor showers instead of the 7 that were on classic Spacedex.
Added
Added plugin for site backups.
Added
Added countdown to functions in PHP.
Added
Working on page for Perseids and it's coming. Looking for API's for weather date.
Added
Added pages for meteor showers, and one for Perseids. Will work on perfecting Perseids layout, and then mimic for other meteor showers.
Added
We're moving fast. The goal is to launch before the 2024 Perseids Meteor Shower's peak on August 12th.
Added
Changelog added to sidebar, along with other page options that don't currently work.
Added
Used the magic of AI to generate custom fields for what I have in mind.
Added
Wordpress file management sucks. Filebird installed.
Added
Now, we need a plugin to easily duplicate pages. Done.
Added
Hmm, we need a ton of custom fields for this site, so let's get some plugins going. ACF it is.
Added
Considering shades for Spacedex colors. Silver and purple come to mind, so let's go with that.
Added
Installed our favorite theme - Impreza - to Wordpress.
Compatibility
Moved hosting to Siteground. Previously, for the past 10 years, the site has been hosted by 1and1 and would go down if tens of thousands of people attempted to access the site at the same time during a major celestial event. The site would be inaccessible for hours at a time, for several days leading to such an event. That won't happen this time around.
Compatibility
We're building the new Spacedex with Wordpress as its base. The previous one was coded from scratch, and it had no CMS. This was the last CMS I ever thought of using for the site I have in mind, but it has proven to be powerful beyond belief and checked every box with another site I am actively working on - Honeybold.
